Thirty-two-year-old Mihaela Noroc has been on a mission to capture portraits of women. The Romanian photographer’s journey has taken her all over the world in the ultimate search for the true meaning of beauty. So far, she’s visited over 50 countries with a backpack and a camera. Ultimately, her goal has been to prove that beauty comes in all ages, skin tones, and nationalities, and her photo project is a true work of art.
Noroc’s Tumblr blog, which shares the same name as the project, was named the third most viral blog in 2015. It also showed the world that women all have different dreams, like this young woman who hopes to be a nurse someday.
For nearly four years, Noroc has traveled across the globe to exotic places, like the market of a small village in Guatemala. In the process, she’s proven to the world that beauty is ageless. It’s the true spirit of these women that makes their inner beauty shine bright. When it’s time to interact with the locals, Noroc doesn’t really need a translator, as she’s fluent in five languages.
Idomeni Refugee Camp, Greece
Noroc has discussed her project on Oprah, CNN, BBC, and Forbes, to name a few, as she loves to talk about her adventures. This journey has allowed her to capture the pain and suffering of mothers like this one, who fled Syria with her two daughters.
Omo Valley, Ethiopia
Noroc is hoping her Atlas of Beauty will inspire women to embrace their natural beauty and authenticity, like this young woman did. It gets so hot in Omo Valley, that it’s not uncommon for the locals to walk around wearing nothing but jewelry.
