The $70k Deal
You only get up to $70,000 if you’re a family of four, tops. Otherwise, you’d be earning over $700k if you had 69 kids like Russian peasants Mr. and Mrs. Vassilyev, who became famous for having a ton of kids. More specifically, 7 sets of triplets, 16 pairs of twins, and 4 sets of quadruplets. Seriously!
The Vote Is In
Yes! The deal sounds awesome, and it’s been approved. On November 30th, residents voted in favor of the plan. However, you better read the fine print.
There are some conditions, as you may have already figured out. First, you have to be a Swiss citizen or have a valid Swiss C permit. Second, you have to stay in Albinen for over 10 years and invest approximately $204,185 for construction and renovation of a house.
Bye, Bye Paradise
While Albinen seems lovely with the mountain tops all covered in snow in the winter, and the green grass and trees so vibrant in the summer, if you fail to meet the conditions that the program requires, you’ll end up having to pay the money back.
Stick With Albinen
If you decide you don’t like Albinen, that’s tough. You can’t just move to another village in Switzerland, which is a federal state, because every town has their own laws and rules. So you better be prepared to plant some roots.
The Age Requirement
Mayor Jost also requires people to be under the age of 45 and to learn German. If you own another home or part of an investor group, you’re out. Now that the program has been approved, Jost hopes that the village school will reopen!
Would you pick up and leave in order to move to Albinen? Let us know in the comments. We’re dying to know!
