We Make Subconscious Choices
Sixty to 80 percent of our decisions are made without consciously thinking. In fact, our subconscious takes over simple decisions, like turning lights off and locking doors, in order to prevent your conscious brain from burning up.
We Can’t Multi-Task
We can only do one cognitive thing at a time. Try talking and reading, and you’ll end up doing neither very well. But it’s possible to multitask if the second activity involves a physical act, like talking while walking.
We Can’t Memorize A Lot
According to studies, you can only store 4 pieces of information at a time, and the info will need to be constantly refreshed or it’ll vanish in 30 seconds. This is why phone numbers and credit cards consist of 3 and 4 digits.
